evaluation questions
Memorable class highlight: There have been several highlights. Of course, taking the train to BK with Michelle was a big one. Causing trouble in Stuy Town with Jenn was another. Oh, making videos with my phone and posting them during class was pretty wonderful.
Preferred medium before the course: Sound. It's always been my preferred medium and probably always will be.
Preferred medium after the course: However, I have begun to really love video. And this blog. Keep an eye on it for my work as I make it for the rest of my degree. Seriously.
A topic/theme/question I would like to investigate in my next project is: I am going to Denver for the summer. The decesion was out of nowhere; my plans are totally up in the air. I know that I will be in town for the DNC. I know that I will see a lot more of my best friend than usual. I know that I'm going to have at least 3 major break-downs during the time I'm there. Finally, I know that I will bring a video camera with me everywhere I go. When I come back to NY in the fall, I should have a wealth of material from which to draw for future projects.
Something I learned in this class that I can teach someone else: (non-technical) How to order nearly anything and have it delivered to your Manhattan apartment.
Something I learned in this class that I can teach someone else: (technical) How to edit video in iMovie. It's easy, if sloppy. It's quick and fun. When you delete something from your timeline it makes a satisfying "poof" sound. Honestly, it's hard not to go around asking strangers if they want to edit video with me.
Something I will try to do next semester that I have never done before: Seduce a hot divorce.
Something I will try to do everyday that I did not do before this course: I have begun to carry around both my video camera and my digital audio recorder everywhere I go. I plan to continue this for ever. Unexpected recordings are basically how all of my best projects start.
A creative project I could do with restriction-free budget of $150 million: It would be a radio program filled with innovative sound techniques employing some of the best writers, journalists, artists and musicians in the world. It would be somewhat derivative of This American Life, Next Big Thing and Wiretap but more brilliant.
How I could do the same project with a budget of $15: I guess the brilliant writers, journalists, artists and musicians would have to volunteer their time. Oh well.
